McAlister: Dealing With The Pressure

Midfielder Pleased With Pool Form

Going four matches unbeaten at a crucial point in the season shows Blackpool can handle the pressure, according to midfielder Jim McAlister.

The Seasiders have taken 10 points from the last 12 available and could take another step towards survival with victory over Colchester United on Saturday.

McAlister has been a regular all season and has called on Pool to continue their good form with another three-point haul at the weekend.

“We’ve been playing with pressure in the last four weeks,” he explained. “The boys have been absolutely brilliant at dealing with it so far.

“We know the next month is going to be tough. We’ve got games against teams in and around us, but we’ll take it a game at a time and hopefully can do the business.”

The Seasiders came out the traps early on against Southend United last week, not allowing their opposition to play, which McAlister believes had a big bearing on the game.

“That was a team that came here last week still with a chance of the play-offs and I think we blew them out the water early doors.

“I think you’ve seen over the season, in games we have started well the confidence has grown and the fans have got behind us so I think that’s going to be important in games.

“We’ve got to come out and have a good start, don’t be nervy and try to get an early goal to settle the boys down,” he added.
