Manager Pleased With Victory Against SouthendNeil McDonald was quick to credit his players after 'a very satisfying' performance and result against Southend United.
Goals from Mark Cullen and Jacob Blyth ensured that The Seasiders recorded a 2-0 victory against the play-off hopefuls, and extended their recent unbeaten run to four matches in the process.
"It was a very satisfying afternoon and performance. Our defending and attacking was excellent, it wouldn't have been unjust if we'd have gone in two or three nil up at half-time," he told the official website. "We kept things nice and tight at the back and we still created chances second-half, which we've taken."
Mark Cullen's second-half opener capped off a fine individual display for the striker and backed up his winner at Doncaster Rovers on Easter Monday.
"That's two in two he's got. which is great, so hopefully he's on a little bit of a run now," the manager said. "It's also nice to see Jacob score as well but he contributes more than just scoring, he's freed up Mark a little bit to express himself and get in behind."
The result puts the side on 45 points for the season and the challenge now is to maintain this level of performance for the five games remaining this season.
"We have to go at it as well as we did today until the end of the season. I'm sure we'll pick up enough points to make sure that we move up that table.
"It's a great return we've got with 10 from the last four games and we must try and continue this run as much as we can.
"The team are feeling good about themselves but we've still got lots of hard work to do. We'll certainly be doing that next week leading up to the Colchester game.
"The boys have got their just rewards today, so well done to every single player."
