Latest Up The Pool

Mark Cullen has bagged in his last two Blackpool matches and now fronts Up The Pool for Saturday’s League One fixture with Colchester United.

Inside we hear from loanees Liam Smith and Jacob Blyth, who have played their part in Blackpool’s recent upturn in form.

Smith is currently borrowed from Newcastle United and set up the winning goal against Doncaster Rovers, before featuring in last week’s win over Southend United.

He discusses returning from injury, the up and down nature of his loan and his parent club, including Rafa Benitez.

He said: “The full loan spell has been a good experience because we’ve had such ups and downs since I’ve been here. It’s seemed like there’s no in between, we’re either really low like at Oldham or really high like at Doncaster.”

He’s joined inside by Leicester City striker Blyth, who got off the mark for Pool last weekend and has featured in the club’s last three unbeaten matches.

Inside, he said: “When you come to a new club, on loan or permanently, the first thing you want to do is score your first goal as early as possible, and I was delighted to do that last weekend.”

Elsewhere, the manager Neil McDonald discusses the top six moments of his playing career, including memories from Newcastle and Everton.

Colchester’s Alex Gilbey provides the away perspective and talks us through those lining up alongside him on Saturday.

Designed by O Publishing and priced at £3, Up The Pool is now available from around Bloomfield Road.
