Defender Looks Back On Exeter City ResultTom Aldred insists there’s a lot more to come from Blackpool this season after a strong start against Exeter City on Saturday.
The Seasiders came out on top in their first test of the new campaign, with a 2-0 win leaving the defender delighted.
“Obviously when the season starts, you want to get yourself off to the best start and a win at home with a clean sheet – you can’t ask for much better, really,” he said.
The 25-year-old seemed unnerved by the challenge at the back, winning the lion’s share of his aerial duels, but was pragmatic over his performance.
“I wouldn’t say it was comfortable, obviously at the start of the season with fitness levels it’s never going to be comfortable, but together as a team we defended well and we got over the line.
“When you look at Exeter, they know how to win games and they’re always in and around the play-offs, so we knew it was never going to be easy and to win 2-0 it does set a benchmark.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better start, but there’s a lot more to come. There’s a lot of improvement still to be made as a team.”
