Manager Previews Crystal Palace EFL Cup TieGary Bowyer is excited by the prospect of his side facing Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup tonight and insists his players have nothing lose.
The manager hopes the Premier League outfit select their strongest possible team for the encounter and hand a debut to record signing Christian Benteke.
"It's a great game for us, to go to any Premier League ground and put yourself against them is a great occasion," Bowyer said.
"They've got a fabulous manager in Alan Pardew and you look at the players they've got in their squad, as well as who they've just gone and signed, and I hope he plays his strongest side. We've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. That's the manner in which we'll approach the game."
Having sampled similar cup experiences at his previous club Blackburn Rovers, the manager knows that his players can only benefit from testing themselves against higher level opposition.
"I was fortunate when I was at Blackburn to take teams to Liverpool and Manchester City, and to play against Stoke and Swansea City. I can't wait because I'll learn so much about our players and they'll learn so much playing against some of the best players."
As he did in the last round against Bolton Wanderers, Bowyer is set to make a few changes given that this will be Blackpool's sixth game of eight this month. However, there could be better news on the injury front as September approaches.
"We have to see who has recovered from Saturday, we have one or two who are just a bit sore and tight because they've played so many games already. We'll count the heads and have a right good go whoever plays.
"By the end of August we might have a clean bill of health though, so that will be really good for us," he added.
