Bowyer: Opportunity For Others

30 August 2016

Manager Set To Make Changes

Gary Bowyer says several players will be given the opportunity to step up and perform in tonight's Checkatrade Trophy fixture against Cheltenham Town.

Mindful of the amount of fixtures his side have played this month, the manager is set to make the permitted changes for the first group stage game and give some other members of his squad minutes on the pitch.

"We've got a cup game where others will get their opportunity," he told the official website. "It will be our eighth game in the month, which is crazy in itself. We'll look after several of the players, that's for sure."

Given the fact that Saturday's game against Plymouth Argyle saw the manager name his strongest bench yet, likely candidates to start will come from those options.

"It was a difficult one on Saturday because we had to leave Will out. It's good though because it's competition for places and we expect everybody to react in the right way and come out fighting and challenge for positions. Some will have the opportunity tonight."

Tickets for the game, which kicks-off at 7.45pm, are available in West Stand blocks M and N, priced at £10 for Adults, £7 for Seniors (60+) and £5 for Under-19s.
