Pool Host The Chairboys
Fixture | Blackpool vs Wycombe Wanderers
Date | 20 August 2016
Venue | Bloomfield Road
Back on home soil where their record is unblemished, Blackpool host Wycombe Wanderers looking to put a mixed couple of away results behind them with a second league victory of the season.
Despite putting in two hearty performances at Morecambe and Barnet, Gary Bowyer’s men picked up just one point so will be pleased to be back at Bloomfield Road.
Wycombe, who’ve endured an indifferent start to the campaign, are the visitors and they’ll look to build on the four points they’ve take from consecutive home games.
Beaten on the opening day at Cambridge, Gareth Ainsworth’s side have improved since then and will look to mount a promotion push after last season’s mid-table finish.
A last minute equaliser denied Blackpool three points at Barnet in the week, after Mark Cullen’s stunning strike had them in front. They’ve won twice on home soil so far though, against Exeter in League Two and Bolton in the EFL Cup.
Wycombe drew with Accrington in mid-week after claiming maximum points against Grimsby thanks a late winner. Their only away game resulted in defeat at Cambridge however.
Bowyer will hope to have players return to fitness for Saturday, with Kyle Vassell, Jamille Matt, Danny Philliskirk and Jack Redshaw all missing Tuesday’s draw with Barnet. Armand Gnanduillet could be in line to make his debut after completing a move from Leyton Orient on Friday.
Wycombe have no injury concerns so Ainsworth must decide if to stick with the side which drew against Accrington. Adebayo Akinfenwa was on target in that game and will hope to start once again at Bloomfield Road.
