Midfielder On Squad CompetitionJim McAlister says there's a good, competitive edge to the Blackpool squad this season that will give the manager plenty to think about.
The midfielder is one of 20 players to have featured so far this season, with victories against Exeter City and Bolton Wanderers highlighting the capabilities within the dressing room.
"The manager came in early doors and challenged us to get in to good habits of not losing games, which we did through pre-season. We've carried that in to the first two competitive games so hopefully that can continue," he said.
"There's a good, competitive edge to the squad, there's places up for grabs, nobody is guaranteed a place in the starting line-up. That's healthy."
With six more games to play this month, squad depth will be firmly tested as The Seasiders look to keep up a solid opening to the campaign.
"There's not going to be a lot of training done, but as a player you just want to play games. We've got lots of games to look forward to, and that's a good thing.
"We've started well but it's massively important that we don't get carried away off the back of two results. The games are going to be coming thick and fast and we'll just concentrate on one game at a time and see where it takes us over the course of the season."
After 47 games in tangerine McAlister finally broke his goalscoring duck for the club in match 48 on Tuesday night, though don't expect a glut to follow.
"The longer it goes on people start talking about it. It's not something I've ever been renowned for, scoring a lot of goals, but it's nice when it comes along.
"John (Herron) put it on a plate for us and fortunately I was in the right position at the right time and couldn't really miss it."
