Striker Gives His Thoughts On Exeter Win
Kyle Vassell says Blackpool won’t get carried away after victory over Exeter City on the opening day, but was delighted to start on the front foot.
The summer signing from Peterborough United got the ball rolling with the opening goal of the campaign and The Seasiders never looked back.
A second followed courtesy of an own goal, meaning it was a satisfying afternoon for Gary Bowyer’s men.
“We beat a good Exeter team but the Gaffer’s right, we shouldn’t get carried away,” said Vassell.
“I’m delighted with the goal, clean sheet and victory but there’s plenty of hard work that still needs to be done.”
The striker was in impressive form during pre-season and it took him just 19 competitive minutes to get off the mark in a tangerine shirt.
“It was good for me to score early on. You just want that first goal so when it arrives you’re buzzing.
“I was going to open up and put it in the corner but it got stuck under my feet, like against Blackburn, and it ended up hitting my heel but it went in the back of the net so I’m not complaining,” he added.
