Bowyer: Battling Performance In Tough Conditions

26 December 2016

Manager Pleased With 1-0 Win

Gary Bowyer was pleased with the battling qualities his team displayed to come away from Hartlepool with a 1-0 win.

Strong winds in the North East made the game tough for both sides, however Mark Cullen's 64th minute finish proved enough for all three points.

Speaking post-match, here's what the manager had to say...

Battling performance.

It was a difficult game all round with the conditions today, but we're delighted with the performance. We've had to battle and deal with the conditions and we got a great bit of quality, which we spoke about at half-time.

Windy conditions.

You saw the difficulty that both teams had, we knew that we had to do what people class as the ugly side of it and stick at it.

Another goal for Cullen.

He's chased down a lost cause at Stevenage and got his goal and he's done exactly the same today. I'm absolutely delighted for him. The anticipation from Cully today was terrific for his goal.

Strong start to the festive fixture period.

You can only go game-by-game. We made changes to freshen it up and I think you've seen the value of the squad today.
