Manager Backs Players To Respond
Gary Bowyer has backed his Blackpool side to come out fighting once again on Boxing Day with a strong performance against Hartlepool United.
The squad has always reacted well to disappointment this season and the manager expects the same following a setback against Luton Town last weekend.
"We do react well and respond well to a setback, and that's what it was last Saturday. The intensity in training has been great again and we're really looking forward to the game on Boxing Day," he said.
"We want to go to Hartlepool and get back to winning ways, it's as simple as that. We know the difficulty that Hartlepool will present to us but we've got to prepare properly, as we have done, and give it our best shot."
The mileage involved for the game means that the players will travel to County Durham on Christmas Day, however the opportunity will still be there for family time in the morning.
"We'll give them the chance to have Christmas dinners with their families and then we're travelling on Christmas night, in preparation for the game," the manager revealed.
"We've got a very professional bunch and the disappointment that they felt last week in the dressing room at the end of the game, there's an opportunity straight away now to get back with smiles on their faces."
A big fan of playing football over the festive period, Bowyer insists he wouldn't have it any other way.
"I'm all for playing games around the Christmas period, I think it's fantastic on Boxing Day so I'm not one pushing for a winter break."
