Pool End 2016 On The Road
Fixture | Grimsby Town vs Blackpool
Date | 31 December 2016
Venue | Blundell Park
Three points would be the ideal way to sign off from 2016 for Blackpool, who take their recent good away form to Grimsby Town on New Year’s Eve.
The Seasiders claimed maximum points at Hartlepool United on Boxing Day and now know victory at Blundell Park could see them enter 2017 in the play-off spots.
Gary Bowyer’s side have won three of their last four away games in League Two and now face Grimsby for the first time since 2004.
The Mariners are amongst the plethora of clubs chasing a play-off spot and are just four points off the top seven after adjusting to life back in the EFL well.
Mark Cullen bagged the winner in Pool’s Boxing Day victory over Hartlepool. That was the perfect response after defeat to Luton Town, which had followed three points at Stevenage.
Grimsby got back to winning ways on Boxing Day, seeing off Accrington Stanley on home soil. They’d previously lost three on the spin to Crawley Town, Portsmouth and Doncaster Rovers.
Only Mark Yeates definitely misses out for The Seasiders with a calf problem. Colin Daniel could return from a hamstring injury which has ruled him out of the last five matches.
Grimsby will be without Sean McAllister, who remains injured. Zak Mills is expected to be passed fit, as is Tom Bolarinwa, who has missed training as a precaution.
