Striker Determined To Play His Part
Jamille Matt says the forthcoming festive period of fixtures could have a big impact on the league table heading into the new year.
The striker, who has hit four goals so far this season, aims to fire Blackpool back into the play-off positions following a disappointing result against Luton Town last time out.
"We've been in the play-offs and obviously dropped out after the defeat last weekend. Our immediate aim is to get back in there and I'm sure if we can win the games over the Christmas period then we will be back in there," Matt told the official website.
"You can pick up a lot of points with the games coming up thick and fast. You have to recover quickly but it's a period of games we're looking forward to."
The Seasiders head to Hartlepool United on Boxing Day and judging by the intensity in training this week, the 27-year-old expects a positive reaction.
"We're looking at Luton as a blip and it's been that way on the training ground this week. Everybody has looked sharp and is looking to get the right result on Boxing Day," he said.
"Every game in this league is competitive and this one will be no different. We need to do what we're good at and hopefully come away with the three points."
On a personal note, Christmas will also be a special time away from the pitch for Matt this year.
"It'll be my little one's first Christmas and my missus is so excited with outfits and things like that. It'll be a special Christmas and he's already been spoilt by the family, so we're looking forward to it," he added.
