Mellor Aims To Keep Pushing On

8 December 2016

Defender Looks For More Goals

Kelvin Mellor says he's determined to build on his goal tally so far this season and contribute as much as he can.

The right-back has found the back of the net on four occasions since moving to the club, which surpasses his previous efforts at Plymouth Argyle and Crewe.

"It's my best record and I want to keep pushing to get as many as I can. The manager's expressed for me to get forward and do what I can," he told the official website.

"I've heard the manager a few times screaming over to me to push on and what not. I've just gambled and fortunately it's been coming to me.

"The manager has expressed that he wants everybody to get assists, goals and clean sheets when defending as well."

Mellor, who has recovered from what initially looked a serious injury against Newport County last month, heads to Stevenage with the squad this weekend looking to build on some solid form.

"We've only lost one in 10 so that's not too bad. If we can keep that form going then I think we'll do fine," he admitted

"They're level on points with us but I think if we can compete and battle, then our football will take care of itself and we'll get the right result."
