McDonald: Another Run Required

25 February 2016

Manager Targets Unbeaten Stint

Neil McDonald is looking for his Blackpool side to start another unbeaten run in League One and move away from the teams at the bottom.

The Seasiders, who prepare to face Bradford City this weekend, have gone without defeat for three games or more on three occasions this season and have also picked up positive results in six of their last eight home fixtures.

Having seen how dramatically league positions can change on the back of some momentum, the manager is calling on his players to get back to winning ways and maintain the same level of performance again.

"Oldham are the prime example and Barnsley were the prime example before that because they won six on the bounce. We must get on a run again ourselves and push up that league by getting more points on the board," McDonald told the official website.

"We've been on a decent run of form - only two defeats out of seven - but we must get back to winning ways as quick as we can. We must try and put the points on as quick as we can, knowing that we've got a very busy month next month with seven games coming thick and fast against some of the teams around us. To have that bit of a cushion would be great."

Goals will obviously be vital to that, and McDonald has been delighted with the contribution of striker Danny Philliskirk following his arrival from Oldham Athletic in January.

The 24-year-old has hit four goals in eight appearances for Blackpool and now sits on 11 for the season.

"He's been absolutely brilliant. The chances have come along and even though he could have scored a few more, he's been sticking the ball in the back of the net and that's good for the team," the manager added.
