McDonald Looking For More Away Points

5 February 2016

Manager Speaking Ahead Of Oldham Trip

Neil McDonald believes Blackpool are well set to take their good home form on the road with them this weekend.

The Seasiders are unbeaten in four matches, three of which came at Bloomfield Road, and they’ll aim to continue that run at Oldham Athletic.

Saturday’s opponents are currently stuck inside the League One drop zone, so McDonald knows the importance of a positive result at Boundary Park.

“We need to pick up more points away from home and if we can start at Oldham on Saturday that would be brilliant,” he explained.

“We’ve showed that we can compete on a regular basis and be more consistent now, and that’s what we must do over the next few games.

“It’s a good chance to put points on the board, but we’ll deal with Oldham first and then bring Shrewsbury and Oldham back to our place.”

Blackpool are yet to face The Latics this season after the Boxing Day clash was postponed, and McDonald is expecting a different animal to the one they prepared for previously.

“It’s a new manager, a new way of doing things. A new manager usually comes in and gives everyone a lift so we’ll have to be up for it like we have been in the last four games.

“We were ready for them on Boxing Day but unfortunately it was called off because of the waterlogged pitch.

“We’ll be ready for them again on Saturday and the players are looking forward to every game that’s coming up at the moment,” he added.
