Norris: Creating Distance On Bottom Four

11 February 2016

Midfielder On Facing Nearest Rivals

David Norris has called on Blackpool to start picking up points against their closest rivals, as they prepare to face Shrewsbury Town at the weekend.

Pool are unbeaten in four matches, three of which came against teams with promotion aspirations in League One.

Now Saturday’s game represents the first of three fixtures against sides within touching distance of Pool and Norris acknowledges their importance.

“We’ve picked up some good points against the teams at the top but these are the big games for us because we need to create distance on the bottom four,” he said.

“It’s going to need a change of mentality playing teams around us. When you’re playing the top two there’s less pressure, we gave it our all and managed to pick up some results.

“Now it’s the other way around but we need to approach games exactly the same.”

The midfielder has been an ever-present in the Pool side this season and recent good results have given The Seasiders a platform to build on, according to Norris.

“Some of our points have been bonus points against the top teams recently.

“We have to get some points on the board in the next few games and it will help us massively towards the end of the season,” he added.
