Striker Disappointed With Shrewsbury Loss
Danny Philliskirk hopes Blackpool’s uncharacteristic opening to today’s game won’t be repeated any time soon.
The Seasiders found themselves 3-0 down to Shrewsbury Town after half an hour and it proved too much of a mountain to climb.
Tom Aldred and Philliskirk pulled two back but it wasn’t enough, as Pool fell to a rare home defeat.
“I’m sure we won’t be playing like that again in the first 30 minutes,” said Philliskirk. “The Gaffer wasn’t happy but he shouldn’t be, we’ve let him and ourselves down.
“We’ve showed some good character in the second-half to try and get back in the game but we shot ourselves in the foot going 3-0 down.
“I still think we were unlucky not to get something out of the game and there’ll be a few of us sulking because we didn’t get a result in an important game.”
The Seasiders threw everything at their visitors late on and Philliskirk insists there can’t be any heads down with another crucial game coming up.
“We just needed a bit of lucky. 'Pottsy’s' had one tipped onto the bar and I’ve had one cleared off the line. Things like that don’t seem to be going for you when you’re down there.
“Since I’ve been here we’ve been very solid defensively and it was unlike us so it’s a good job we’ve got a game on Tuesday night.
“The boys are still confident, we’ve been on a good run until today but we’ll go into Tuesday needing to be all guns blazing and do better than we did today,” he added.
