The Match: Oldham Athletic

16 February 2016

Latics Visits Bloomfield Road

After two failed attempts, Blackpool and Oldham Athletic finally do battle this evening, in a game which could have significant implications at the bottom of League One.

The Seasiders sit three points above the relegation zone which contains Oldham, who have started to turn the corner since the arrival of John Sheridan.

On Saturday Blackpool were beaten by another relegation rival in Shrewsbury Town, so will look to make amends in Tuesday’s game in hand.

The Latics picked up an impressive point at Wigan Athletic over the weekend but remain five points from safety, needing to continue their mini revival.

Team News
Blackpool will assess the fitness of goalkeeper Colin Doyle prior to the fixture, after he missed Saturday’s game with an ankle injury. Lloyd Jones and Henry Cameron remain out.

Oldham will sweat on the fitness of Anthony Gerrard who was taken off with a knee injury at the weekend, while Mike Jones and Brian Wilson remain doubtful.

Danny Philliskirk and Mark Yeates are set to face their former club for the first time since their January moves.

Pre-Match Talk
Dean Lyness: “That game is gone now and our full focus is on the game tonight. If we get the points then it helps us pull away a little bit and stops Oldham catching up. That's what we'll be trying to do.”

John Sheridan: “It will be a tough game, they have had some good results apart from the last one they had against Shrewsbury Town but we will go there and hopefully put on a performance like Saturday.”

Match Official
Paul Tierney will be in the middle for this evening’s game, assisted by Steven Copeland and William Smallwood. Paul Hodskinson will be on fourth official duty.

Programme
We hear from David Norris and Tom Aldred inside tonight’s Up The Pool, with the duo looking to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointing result. There’s also content from Neil McDonald, Jarrett Rivers, Liam Kelly and Jonathan Forte.
