Kyle: A Pleasing Point

26 January 2016

First-Team Coach On Sheffield United Draw

Richie Kyle was happy to see Blackpool's unbeaten run extended to three games with a point against Sheffield United this evening.

The Seasiders' First-Team coach praised another strong defensive effort, as The Seasiders shut-out The Blades and caused problems for the opposition.

"They're resolute this group and people are finding it hard to break us down, people are finding it hard to beat us now. We are pleased with a point but I'm sure Sheffield United are as well because it was a difficult game for them," Kyle said.

"We're disappointed not to win because we go into every game to win, but we were up against a team flying high and that's expected to get promoted."

Colin Doyle picked up the Man of the Match award in the stadium for a couple of first-half saves, however Brad Potts continued his recent resurgence with a dominant display in midfield.

"Brad's getting better and better, he's a young lad and we've been really pleased with his performances of late. When he drives forward he's a constant threat but off the ball tonight he was a constant threat, he was in their faces and winning the second ball.

"It was a team performance though, I thought everybody was outstanding and the work rate and work ethic was terrific tonight."

The Sheffield United game was the second of three against a top eight side this week and the players have proved they're up to the test.

"We're standing up to them. It was always going to be a tough period with the teams we're playing being near the top of the league  but we're relishing it and really enjoying this little spell we're having. We just need to keep this little run going.
"We hope now that we can get three points against Gillingham on Saturday," Kyle added.
