Manager Thrilled With 5-0 VictoryNeil McDonald was full of praise for Blackpool's five-star performance against Scunthorpe United, hailing it as the best display of the season.
Two strikes from Brad Potts and other efforts from Tom Aldred, David Norris and Danny Philliskirk saw The Seasiders run in five goals against Mark Robins' side.
"That's definitely the best we've played, attacking-wise and defensively. I thought we looked really solid and it was vitally important that we kept a clean sheet as well," McDonald said.
"We started off with a tempo that Scunthorpe couldn't keep to, and when the chances came along we put them in the back of the net."
The opening goal came just 90 seconds into the game and helped set the precedent for a Blackpool side constantly on the front foot.
"It was great to score from a set-play to set us off, and you saw when we got the first goal that the confidence grew, the players became a little bit sharper and we passed it a lot better. We've come out of it worthy winners.
"Our attacking play was really exciting today and I really enjoyed watching it myself. After the first goal the crowd really got behind the team and you saw the difference with that, which was fantastic."
The brace from Brad Potts took his tally to the season to five, and he gave up the chance to go for a hat-trick by assisting Danny Philliskirk's first for the club.
"It was a fine performance from him, driving forward and sticking the couple of chances he had away," the manager beamed. "He was very unselfish to lay Philliskirk in for his first goal, and it was nice to see David Norris get a goal for his all-round performance."
