Manager On Defender's AwardNeil McDonald says Tom Aldred's PFA Player of the Month award this week was justly deserved for his performances in December.
The manager was happy to see his centre-half given a 'little bit of recognition' for some commanding displays in victories against Wigan Athletic and Peterborough United.
"The performances show that he's been really consistent, he's defending really well and he scored a goal against Wigan," McDonald said. "It's great to see that the fans have given him a little bit of recognition for the performances he's put in."
Having picked up various Man of the Match awards at Bloomfield Road this season, Aldred has worked hard to retain a place in the side after playing out of position in pre-season and missing the opener at Colchester United.
"He had to be patient. I only played him at right-back in pre-season and that's certainly not his position. Whether I was right or wrong by not picking him at the start of the season, he's proved why he should be in the team. That's what I want off players who aren't in the team at the moment, to prove that they should be, which he certainly did," the manager added.
