Forward Ready For Blackpool OpportunityDanny Philliskirk says his move to Blackpool has come at the right time, as he looks to make a big impression at Bloomfield Road.
The forward, 24, completed a switch from hometown club Oldham Athletic yesterday after spending the last two-and-a-half seasons with The Latics.
Previously a youth player at Boundary Park, Philliskirk feels ready to move away for a second time and continue his progress.
"The first time I obviously moved when I was younger. I feel it's the right time, I felt as though I needed to come away from Oldham. Saying that, they've looked after me and I obviously haven't said my farewells yet. They've given me the chance to come here because before I went there I hadn't played many games," he said.
"Before I went to Oldham I felt that nobody gave me a chance and I was trying to prove myself, whereas now it's nice to know that I'm wanted and other people have been looking at me."
Versatile in attacking areas, Philliskirk has adopted several midfield positions this season, however he's determined to be a striker for Blackpool.
"I prefer being further up. I've been playing more in midfield all season with Oldham but the manager says he wants me to play further up, and that's where I prefer. I was pleased to hear that."
He's already hit seven goals this season and hopes to get off the mark quickly in a tangerine shirt, with a potential debut against Port Vale on the cards.
"Goals bring confidence, so if I can get off to a good start then hopefully I can take that further into the season and we can start climbing up that table."
His move to Blackpool tops off an eventful three weeks, following the arrival of his first child last month.
"My daughter was born on the 18 December so that was a decision I obviously had to take into account.
"Everyone around the place has made me feel welcome and I just can't wait to get started now," he added.
