Bowyer Still Looking To Strengthen

22 July 2016

Manager Set To Add More Faces

Gary Bowyer says he's still actively pursuing targets as he looks to bolster his squad further ahead of the new season.

The manager made Danny Pugh and Sam Slocombe his sixth and seventh signings earlier this week, yet a few minor injuries elsewhere have highlighted the need for more.

"We've got a few missing tomorrow with niggles but no injuries that are worrying me or making me lose sleep for two weeks on Saturday," Bowyer said ahead of a pre-season game against Blackburn Rovers.

"It's been good for me because it highlights what we need to do when we do pick up a couple of injuries. We're in talks with a couple of players to try and bring them in to strengthen the squad."

Aside from speaking to targets, the manager will also run the rule over several players currently training with the club.

"We've got a couple in that have been with us for a couple of weeks so we'll continue to monitor that and we'll look to get more bodies into the building next week."

The pre-season game against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow will see Bowyer come up against his former employers, which provides him with a chance to thank the club's fans.

"I didn't have the opportunity to thank the support that I had from the supporters - they were magnificent with me. It'll be an opportunity to thank them, and rightly so," he added.

Tickets for the match at Bloomfield Road are priced at £10 for adults, £5 over-60s and £2 for under-18s.
