Midfielder Looks To Shake Off Past ProblemsJohn Herron hopes a good pre-season will help him to perform to his capabilities throughout the new campaign.
The midfielder, who moved to Blackpool from Celtic last summer, endured a frustrating debut season at Bloomfield Road, that started with a knee injury before a competitive ball was kicked.
It followed a similar scenario a year earlier, which is why the 22-year-old is firmly focused on coming through this pre-season unscathed.
"Before I came I had an ACL injury two years ago and then I came here and did the exact same thing. For me it's all about staying fit this pre-season and seeing where it takes me. I'm going to keep my head down and work hard," he said.
In an effort to stay in peak condition, Herron has been impressed with the input of new fitness coach Dan Birdsall.
"A lot of the sport science stuff has been really beneficial and everyone is speaking about it very highly. We've hit the ground running since coming back and hopefully everybody will be ready to go for the start of the season."
The former Scotland youth international currently finds himself back in his homeland for a 10-day training camp, based at a facility that is pretty familiar.
"Coming up through the youth we played Dundee United up there and the pitches are very nice, you can zip the ball about on them.
"We've got a good 10 days with all the boys, especially with all the new additions as well. We'll all get to know each other that wee bit better, as we take part in what the gaffer has got planned for us."
Not one to go unnoticed this pre-season, Herron has gone for an Aaron Ramsey inspired change of hair colour.
"I just thought I'd have a bit of a change, I'm quite blond anyway so I just thought I'd dye it a bit. It took a couple of takes because it went grey and stuff at first but I'm happy with it."
