Pre-Season Concludes At Bloomfield Road

Fixture | Blackpool vs Bury
Date | 30 July 2016
Venue | Bloomfield Road

Blackpool draw the curtain on pre-season with a home friendly against Bury, where they’ll look to go a sixth and final game unbeaten.

Having won three behind-closed-doors friendlies, The Seasiders have drawn with Blackburn Rovers and Tranmere Rovers this week – displaying different facets of their game.

League One Bury will provide the final test before the League Two campaign begins next week and Gary Bowyer will want his side to sign off on a positive note.

The Opposition
Bury were dealt a major pre-season blow this week when last season’s leading scorer Leon Clarke was sold to Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee.

Otherwise, The Shakers have done some astute business this summer, bringing in former Bradford City goalkeeper Ben Williams after he registered 22 clean sheets last season.

David Flitcroft has also added experience to his squad through Antony Kay, Neil Danns and Leon Barnett, but pre-season has proved tricky with one draw and three defeats to their name.

Team News
Blackpool boss Bowyer hopes he’ll be selecting from a larger group of players on Saturday, with a number of his players shaking off niggles and strains.

Trialists and Youth Team players are set to be involved once more but Bowyer is likely to give long run-outs to his first-team players.

Pre-Match Quotes
Bowyer: “We need to up the performance levels again from Tuesday. There’s certain areas we need to identify and be better for the start of the season.”

Flitcroft: “We’ve played adequate minutes for the whole 20-man squad. You’ve got to try and get a fully-fit squad for that first encounter.”
