Pugh Moves To Blackpool

18 July 2016

Experienced Midfielder Arrives

Danny Pugh has become Blackpool's sixth signing of the summer after agreeing an initial one-year deal with the club, plus an option for a further year.

The versatile midfielder, 33, arrives with more than 300 first-team appearances under his belt for the likes of Stoke City and Leeds United.

A former Manchester United trainee, he featured 48 times for Bury last season and puts pen-to-paper at Bloomfield Road following a stint training with the team in Scotland last week.

"I'd spoken to the manager a couple of times on the phone and I was keen to meet up with the lads and get a couple of games and a couple of training sessions in. I'm delighted to finally sign," Pugh told the official website.

"It's quite a young team but there seems to be a good mix. I've got a little bit of experience, I'm maybe older than a few of the lads so hopefully I can bring something to the team. There's a lot to achieve here, promotion being the main one."

Manager Gary Bowyer had stressed the importance of adding an older head in midfield and is pleased to now have Pugh on board for the new campaign.

"Danny met up with the squad in Scotland and his impact was instant," Bowyer said. "He brings a wealth of experience to the team and will be a strong, vocal presence in the middle of the park."
