Taylor Completes Blackpool Move

1 July 2016

Left-Back Signs For The Seasiders

Andy Taylor has completed a move to Blackpool this afternoon following the expiry of his contract at Walsall.

The left-back, 30, has agreed an initial one-year deal at Bloomfield Road, with the option of a further year, and becomes Gary Bowyer's fourth signing as manager.

Vastly experienced, Taylor has made 160 appearances in four years with The Saddlers, including 39 last season as the club finished third in League One.

Born in Blackburn, he started his career with his home town club and spent a three-game loan spell at Blackpool in 2006, before making permanent switches to Tranmere Rovers and Sheffield United.

"I've been in for a couple of days and the lads are buzzing to start getting this club going back in the right direction. You look around the stadium and it's not a stadium or club that belongs in League Two. It's an exciting challenge for me personally," Taylor told the official website.

Manager Gary Bowyer first coached his new recruit in the youth setup at Blackburn Rovers and is delighted to be reunited again.

"Andy is a fantastic signing for the club and I'm really pleased that he's made the decision to join us. He was part of a very exciting Walsall team last season and he'll be a real asset on and off the pitch here at Blackpool."
