Bowyer: Add The Right Quality

30 June 2016

Manager Looking To Supplement The Squad

Gary Bowyer says he's looking to add the right quality to his Blackpool squad ahead of the new season.

The manager welcomed his three new summer signings to the start of pre-season training yesterday and plans to bring in a few more in the coming week.

"Already they seem to have fitted in quite quickly, a couple of them are local and have moved to the area," he said of Jamille Matt, Kyle Vassell and Colin Daniel. "They seem a close group and we've got to add the right quality.

"We're still in the hunt for one or two and hopefully we can sort those in the next week or so."

Bowyer moved swiftly following his appointment earlier this month to contact players already on the club's books, but nothing beats greeting them personally.

"It's always good when the players come back and for me to meet them for the first time face-to-face. It's good to get cracking now.

"I've already outlined my plans to them, individually and collectively, and the balls will be coming out on the training ground tomorrow after a couple of days of testing.

"I want the players to be the best that they can be and to control what we can control, which is our attitude and the quality of our training," he added.
