20 June 2016

Club Secretary Appointed To New Role

Blackpool Football Club can confirm that Alex Cowdy has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.

The 37-year-old, who initially moved to Bloomfield Road as Club Secretary in March of this year, will manage day-to-day football operations at the club.

Still responsible for football administration, Cowdy was part of the panel that interviewed and selected the club’s manager Gary Bowyer, along with other senior figures, and becomes the first permanent CEO the club has employed since 2006.

On his new position, Cowdy said: “I am delighted to expand my role and become involved in other areas of the club’s operations.”

Chairman Karl Oyston added: “Alex has made a big impression in his short time with us so far and I am pleased that he has accepted to take up the position of Chief Executive Officer.”

Prior to joining Blackpool, Cowdy spent 14 months as Football Co-Ordinator at Fleetwood Town and was also an FA Licensed agent for 10 years.
