Striker Agrees Blackpool DealGary Bowyer has made his first signing as Blackpool manager by adding striker Jamille Matt to his squad on a two-year deal.
The 26-year-old, who scored seven goals in 14 appearances en route to the League Two play-off final while on loan at Plymouth Argyle, will officially join the club once his contract expires at Fleetwood Town later this month.
"I spoke to the manager on the phone a couple of times and the excitement in his voice of what he wants to do this season is something that attracted me," Matt said, when asked for his thoughts on the move.
"I want to be part of a team that is challenging at the top of the league to try and get promoted. We've got the opportunity next season to try and bounce straight back and we've got some good players here already. If I can complement those players, hopefully we'll be back where we want to be."
A then-club record signing for Fleetwood from Kidderminster Harriers back in January 2013, Matt hit 10 goals in The Cod Army's 2013-14 promotion season but was ruled out of the following campaign with a serious injury.
He scored 11 goals in total last season, including a brace against Portsmouth in the semi-finals of the play-offs. His arrival at Bloomfield Road is one that the manager is delighted with.
"Jamille fits the profile for the type of striker I wanted to bring to the club - he's strong, powerful, determined and, most importantly, knows where the goal is," Gary Bowyer said.
"He finished the season in fine form for Plymouth and we'll be looking for him to hit the ground running when the players return for pre-season."
