Manager Reflects On Victory at CreweNeil McDonald was delighted to see Blackpool come away from Crewe with all three points following a dramatic encounter at Gresty Road.
Goals from Jack Redshaw and Tom Aldred sealed a 2-1 victory for The Seasiders, though the former's sending off in the first-half meant a monumental effort was required with 10-men.
Crewe did have a late opportunity to level matters from the spot, however Brad Inman sent his penalty over the bar in the 91st minute.
"We should have really finished them off with the chances that we had, but we didn't. We got a little bit of luck with them missing the penalty, but we thoroughly deserved to win the game in my opinion," McDonald said.
"We took the lead and then Jack got sent off so it was backs against the wall but they all stood up to be counted today and we fully deserved the victory."
The goal from Tom Aldred that proved to be the winner came just a minute after Blackpool had conceded, as the team stood strong to bounce back from disappointment immediately.
"It was vitally important that we got that second goal because some of our play deserved that. Every man stood up to put their body on the line and we got there in the end."
The result was enough to lift the club out of the bottom four ahead of a busy Easter period that now sees Blackpool face Bury and Doncaster Rovers.
"The players are buzzing in the changing room, which they should be, because we haven't won for quite a while. Hopefully this is the start of our recovery. Looking at the other results as well, it's a fantastic result for us," the manager added.
