Midfielder On Crucial Game
David Norris says points come above performances at this stage of the season and that it’s now time for Blackpool to do their talking on the pitch.
The Seasiders are stuck inside the relegation zone with nine games remaining, but on Saturday face a team in a similar predicament in Crewe Alexandra.
One of the experienced heads in the camp at 35, Norris is rallying the troops and insists Pool know the importance of a positive result at the weekend.
“Performances go out the window, it’s all about getting points on the board,” said Norris. “Everyone’s a little bit low from the last few results, but we’ve got to snap out of it and keep going.
“There’s no point rolling over and dying, it wouldn’t be fair to ourselves, the fans or the management team. You’ve got to roll your sleeves up, get on with it and give everything.
“We have to get points on the board and give ourselves every chance of staying in this league. At the moment we’d take any sort of points, any sort of goals, we need to get the win to lift everybody.”
Neil McDonald’s side are winless in eight matches, five of which have been lost by one goal, and Norris insists one win could be the springboard for a better run of results.
“We’re coming into games against teams around us, these are the ones we have to win otherwise you fully deserve what you get. We’ve got to do a bit more to make sure we get something.
“We’re losing a lot of games by the odd goal. It’s not like we’ve been getting beaten four or five, where you deserve what you get, we’ve been losing by the odd goal and playing well in patches.
“I think we’ve deserved more but we’ve got to keep going and hope we get that break. On Saturday, if we got the win there, we could be out of the bottom four and mentally it will change everything,” he added.
