Striker Focused On Task Ahead
Danny Philliskirk insists Blackpool must concentrate on their own job before worrying about results elsewhere on Sunday.
Three points are a necessity if Blackpool are to avoid the drop, while Crewe will realistically be required to beat Fleetwood Town to complete the job.
With four away wins this season, Blackpool must make it five at Peterborough United and Philliskirk is focused on the primary task.
“We have to concentrate on ourselves and win the game first,” he said. “If we do that we can see what happens in the other game, but our focus is on going there and trying to win the game.
“We’ll go out onto the pitch, give our all, and hopefully it will be a day to remember, rather than a day to forget.
“It’s just a game of football at the end of the day, there’s things riding on it, but it’s 11 vs 11 on the pitch, with people screaming and shouting, you just get on with it.”
The Seasiders are without a goal in four matches, despite creating plenty of chances against Wigan Athletic, and Philliskirk knows the importance of the opening goal.
“Hopefully if we can get that first goal it will breed confidence throughout the team. I’d take a 25-yard screamer or a tap in, I’d take any goal because I’m desperate for one.
“In the games since I’ve been here we’ve been good in spells but also poor in spells. It’s down to ourselves, we’ve only got ourselves to blame if we don’t do it.
“We need a bit of luck, of course we do, but we need to also win the game and that’s our main objective,” he added.
