10 Questions: Jamille Matt

30 November 2016

Get To Know Blackpool Striker

Jamille Matt has struck up a good partnership with Kyle Vassell in recent matches and has scored his first three goals for the club in November.

Here he reveals a bit more about himself by answering our 10 questions.

You’re given the microphone in front of your team mates, what song do you sing?

This happened not so long ago, it was pre-season up in Scotland and I chose Shaggy ‘Angel’ because he’s obviously Jamaican like myself. I was able to do a bit of the rapping bit and the singing bit. It went down quite well, I think the lads enjoyed it.

You have five pounds left to spend, what do you buy?

It’s a bit boring but I’d get some fruit juice and a lottery ticket.

What did you go as to your last fancy dress party?

I went as Zeus. Me and the missus went as Greek gods and she had some curtains that she made the outfits out of because she’s quite creative. I got a lot of stick and was home from that party by 10pm.

Who do you room with on away games and what are they like for company?

Armand Gnanduillet. He’s good company, a lively guy. We spent a bit of time together at Stevenage so I knew Armand from before and we kept in touch. It was easy for him to settle when he came to the club because I knew him.

What is the most used app on your mobile phone?

I’ve signed up to Apple music so it’s all I’ve been on recently. You can stream songs all the time.

Not including the current squad, who is the best player who’ve played with?

I didn’t get to play with him because I was injured at the time but Stephen Dobbie when at Fleetwood. The other I’d say, who I did play with, was Lee Hendrie at Kidderminster. It was so easy to play with him and he always found me when playing behind the striker. It was later in his career but you could still see why he’d been where he’d been. His hard work and desire was testament to who he was, and he’d always be on you if you weren’t doing the same in training.

What’s the best holiday you’ve ever been on and why?

I went away to Turkey with the missus last year after not really expecting to get away. I was injured and the physio said I’d be in over the summer. He managed to find me five days to get away with the missus and because it wasn’t planned I think that’s why we enjoyed it that much. It was a place called Altinkum.

If you had one super power, what would it be and why?

I think everyone would love to fly, wouldn’t they?

Who is your best friend in football?

A mate I played with at youth team level at Sutton Coldfield, Jake Murrall. We kind of grew up together and always kept in touch. We don’t see each other as much nowadays because he’s living in a different part of the country to myself but I’ve always kept in touch with him.

What was your first football kit and which name did you put on the back?

My first kit was actually a Brazil kit from the ’94 World Cup. My dad was a massive Brazil fan and I remember him putting me on his shoulders when they won the World Cup. The first kit I had with a name on the back was an Arsenal one with Thierry Henry on it.
