Defender Hopes Goal Was First Of Many
Tom Aldred hopes his match winner at Leyton Orient can prove a catalyst for more goals in a tangerine shirt this season.
The defender, who netted five times last season, got off the mark this time around by heading home Jack Payne’s corner.
It turned out to be the winner at the Matchroom Stadium and Aldred hopes it was the first of many.
“I feel I should pose more of a threat aerially in the opposing box, I just needed to get off the mark so hopefully now they keep coming like buses,” he said.
“I had a good record last season and want to improve on that. I’m delighted with the goal, it’s been coming, but delighted more with the win.”
The 2-1 success was only Pool’s second three-point haul on the road and Aldred is now looking for more consistency from Gary Bowyer’s side.
“There’s question marks over our consistency this season, we’d won one game away which we know isn’t good enough for where we want to be.
“We were disappointed in terms of not getting a clean sheet because we’d felt very comfortable. Credit to them, they didn’t give up but we did well to hold out,” he added.
