Players Hit The Track In Go Karts
The Blackpool players put their driving skills to the test yesterday, as they went Go Kart racing in Warrington.
Fresh from a 4-0 victory over Notts County, manager Gary Bowyer took the opportunity to strengthen the bonds within a first-team squad that introduced 12 new faces over the summer.
Great for team spirit and morale, the challenge at TeamSport saw the players compete against each other around a 1000m international track circuit.
Midfielder Jim McAlister was the overall winner on the day, taking first place on the podium ahead of team-mate Kelvin Mellor.
"I got a wee bit lucky, there was a lot of crashes and I managed to miss all the trouble. That's probably what cost Kelvin because I think he would have beaten me if it was a head-on-head race," he said.
"It was a great exercise for the boys to come and enjoy away from training for a day. Things for the last few weeks have been going well on the pitch - the boys got a great result on Saturday - so bringing us here keeps the mood good in the camp."
For Mellor, who finished top of the leaderboard in qualifying and started the final first on the grid, it was a frustrating outcome, though he still took home a silver trophy.
"It's just the luck that you get. In the first race I was out and away, nobody was near me so it was a lot easier. When you've got traffic in front of you it's a lot harder to get round. I'm quite competitive but I'm happy to take second," he added.
