Youth Team Beaten At Burnley

7 November 2016

Donnelly's Side Suffer 3-0 Defeat

The youth team slumped to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Burnley to leave them without a win in four games.

Blackpool started the game really well and created some good opportunities, with Dylan Sumner seeing a curling shot tipped away by the 'keeper before Liam Robinson won a corner after having a shot blocked.

The Clarets grew into the game though and put Ciaran Donnelly’s side under pressure with a high line that was effective at times.

Just after the half-hour mark, Blackpool had a gilt-edged chance when Rowan Roache’s shot was saved and the rebound fell to Dunne. The striker crossed the ball to Robinson who fired wide from inside the area.

Half-Time: Burnley 0 Blackpool 0

In the second half Roache ran through clear on goal but before the Republic of Ireland international could shoot, he was denied by a brilliant sliding challenge.

Defender Ben Jacobson found himself some space in the opposition half and shot just wide of the goal.

However, it was the home side who broke the deadlock through Ola Tunde Bayode in the 77th minute which opened the floodgates.

Just minutes later, Tommy Wood easily glided his way through The Seasiders’ defence to score from a tight angle.

Tinashe Chakwana then added a third goal just before the end of the game with a volley from close range that added gloss to the scoreline.
