Youth Team Left To Settle For Point

Wigan Fight Back In 2-2 Draw

It was a tale of contrasting halves as the youth team let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 at Wigan Athletic on Friday.

Christian N’Guessan’s early goal, followed by another from Ralph Chea in the first-half, had put The Seasiders in a commanding position.

However, Wigan came flying out of the blocks in the second-half and hit back through Tom Powell and Matty Taylor to earn a point.

Blackpool had got off to the perfect start just minutes into the game, as N’Guessan’s shot from distance flew into the top corner.

The goal was the perfect way to start the game and The Seasiders dominated from then on.

Finlay Sinclair-Smith fizzed a shot just wide of the post and won a corner shortly after having another shot blocked.

The winger was lively from the start and had another chance to score after skipping past his man and shooting just inches wide of the goal.

Just before the half hour mark, Blackpool doubled their lead. Rowan Roache’s free-kick from distance was spilled by the goalkeeper and Chea was alert to bundle the ball into the back of the net.

Half-Time: Wigan 0-2 Blackpool

Despite being completely dominated in the first half, Wigan looked a different side after the break and showed why they were the league winners last year.

Just minutes into the second-half the hosts pulled a goal back through Powell, after a headed clearance fell to him at the edge of the box.

The Latics pressed for an equaliser, which allowed Blackpool to go on a quick counter-attack that led to Dylan Sumner finding the net, however he was deemed to be offside.

Wigan completed their comeback late on in the second-half after Taylor’s effort from outside the box took an unfortunate deflection off a Blackpool defender to leave the goalkeeper with no chance.

Roache came close to getting a last minute winner with a great effort but was denied by a fingertip save.

Full-Time: Wigan 2-2 Blackpool
