Pool Host The Cumbrians
Fixture | Blackpool vs Carlisle United
Date | 17 September 2016
Venue | Bloomfield Road
Gary Bowyer will be pleased to be back on home soil after two long trips and the task ahead is to become the first League Two team to take three points from Carlisle United this season.
Pool’s indifferent start to the campaign in terms of results was typified in recent weeks, with victory at Yeovil Town being mellowed with defeat to Colchester United.
However, The Seasiders have had no problem finding the back of the net, with seven goals in three games, and their plethora of strikers are returning to fitness.
They come up against a Carlisle side with five draws and two victories to their name, but Blackpool will move level on points with them with a win.
Armand Gnanduillet and Brad Potts were on target last weekend but The Seasiders went down at Colchester. Pool’s home victories this season came against Exeter City on the opening day and against Cheltenham Town in the Checkatrade Trophy.
A late penalty Danny Grainger rescued Carlisle a point and extended their unbeaten run with a 2-2 draw at home to Leyton Orient. Their only away win of the campaign so far came at Barnet last month.
Jamille Matt and Mark Cullen are both back fit and expected to feature in the matchday squad. Danny Philliskirk is pushing for a start after returning to fitness last weekend, while Dean Lyness waits in the wings for his latest Blackpool debut.
Charlie Wyke came off the bench and hit the target last weekend so is nearing a starting slot. Jabo Ibehre also came off the bench last week so could replace Shaun Miller.
