Pool Head To Cheshire
Fixture | Crewe Alexandra vs Blackpool
Date | 24 September 2016
Venue | Gresty Road
Relegated from League One together in May, Blackpool and Crewe Alexandra do battle at Gresty Road, with Gary Bowyer’s men looking to transfer performances into results.
The Seasiders dominated last week’s draw with Carlisle United and feel their general efforts have warranted more than the nine points picked up so far in League Two.
A relatively short trip in comparison to others at this level, Blackpool travel to Cheshire confident of claiming a second away win of the season.
Crewe have started well however, and sit third after taking nine points from nine after a previous run of no wins in four for Steve Davis’ men.
Blackpool came from two goals down to rescue a point against Carlisle last weekend, but should have taken all three. Victory at Yeovil and defeat to Colchester came before.
Crewe are in-form and saw off Grimsby Town 2-0 a week ago. On home soil they’ve beaten Doncaster Rovers and Exeter City – which makes up their three-match winning run.
Bowyer will again be without skipper Danny Pugh for the trip, with the midfielder struggling with an ankle injury. Meanwhile, Jack Redshaw remains absent with shin problems. That means the manager is set to select from the same pool of players as a week ago.
Crewe suffered an injury blow last weekend, with Chelsea loanee Alex Kiwomya returning to London with a dislocated shoulder. Meanwhile, Ben Nugent and Callum Saunders have been rated as doubts having been injured in a development game on Monday.
