Seasiders Back On Home Soil
Fixture | Blackpool vs Portsmouth
Date | 27 September 2016
Venue | Bloomfield Road
Under the lights at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool will look to spark a charge up the League Two table with victory over much-fancied Portsmouth.
The Seasiders were pegged back and forced to settle for a point at Crewe Alexandra at the weekend so will look to learn their lessons and show more ruthlessness.
Gary Bowyer’s men are without a home league win since the opening day but have remained a threat in front of goal, scoring eight goals during the month of September.
Pompey arrive on the Fylde Coast on the back of hammering Barnet 5-1 at the weekend but they’ve lost on both of their previous trips to Lancashire this season.
The Seasiders have drawn their last two fixtures, against Carlisle United and Crewe, but are without a win since the start of the month, when they breezed past Yeovil Town.
Portsmouth reacted from defeat at Accrington Stanley by hammering Barnet as the weekend, with five different players finding the back of the net to move them up to second.
Danny Pugh and Brad Potts remain doubtful for The Seasiders, with both missing Saturday’s draw. Jack Redshaw will again be absent, while goalkeeper Sam Slocombe was withdrawn at half-time with a groin injury, so is unlikely to feature.
Drew Talbot remains a long-term absentee, while Ben Close joins him on the sidelines. Striker Noel Hunt is a doubt with a groin injury.
