Defender Pleased To Score
Kelvin Mellor hopes to add to his goal tally for Blackpool after scoring his first for the club in last night's victory against Portsmouth.
The right-back, who has been an ever present in the league so far this season, found the net from a set-play routine, which is where he may well get opportunities.
Manager Gary Bowyer has stressed the need for every player to contribute going forward, and Mellor feels he can do just that.
"I heard the 'keeper shout and I thought I was going to get clobbered, but fortunately he was nowhere near it and it just skimmed straight off my head and fell straight in the bottom corner," he said of his goal.
"The gaffer wants me in the box and I'm happy to do that, and hopefully I can pluck in with a few goals."
The performance against Pompey was one that incorporated plenty of feedback from Saturday's draw at Crewe, with the players determined to get all three points.
"We learnt from our mistake on Saturday against Crewe, it was obviously a quick turnaround with Tuesday's game. We went through the video and analysed everything we possibly could, and we performed last night.
"Our performances have been good this season, we know what Portsmouth are about and they're going to be up there at the end of the season. But in this league any team can beat any team, we just need to keep performing and hopefully the results take care of themselves."
Attention now turns to an away fixture at Crawley this weekend, where the players will look to shake off the long journey and make it consecutive league victories.
"It'll be a gruelling journey but teams have got to do it against us. We've done it now for the past couple of weeks and we're fine with the journeys. We've got to get back-to-back results and push on and win games," Mellor added.
