Mellor Pleased With Defensive Form

Defender Previews Colchester Trip

Kelvin Mellor has backed the Blackpool defence to continue its mean streak by repelling the Colchester United attack this weekend.

The Seasiders kept a clean sheet last week at Yeovil, their third of the season, which aided the search for three points.

Expecting an aerial test against The Us this weekend, Mellor is confident of another solid display at the back.

“It’s going to be a similar game to Yeovil, they’re going to look to pump it a bit but it’s nothing we can’t deal with,” said Mellor.

“Yeovil did it against us and we kept a clean sheet so we’ll be looking for the same thing.

“Obviously they got relegated so want to instantly be bouncing back. It’s going to be a tough place to go but it’s definitely a game we can win.”

The trip to Essex represents another mammoth journey for The Seasiders but the summer recruit from Plymouth won’t be looking for excuses.

“There’s a lot of travelling involved but as a group of players we’re more than capable of dealing with that and not make excuses.

“Our preparation has been good before games and recovery is big in this league because of all the trips down south, but we’re doing fine,” he added.
