Soldier Delivers Inspirational TalkSgt. Rick Clement delivered an inspirational talk to the Blackpool squad at Bloomfield Road this afternoon.
Serving in the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, Rick was severely injured while on duty in Afghanistan in May 2010 after stepping on an I.E.D (improvised explosive device). He lost both of his legs and suffered massive internal injuries, leading to countless operations.
However, he has never let his injuries hold him back and has instead worked tirelessly to raise money for military charities, embarking on various physical challenges that put his body to the test.
Openly discussing his experiences, he told the players about his life on the front line, ongoing recovery and determination to help others.
"Rick's attitude to overcoming adversity is incredible, he's a remarkable individual who highlights what you can achieve in life, no matter the obstacle," manager Gary Bowyer said.
"It was fascinating to hear about his military values and how he related them to football. I can't thank him enough for coming in and spending some time with us."
