Seasiders Now On 15 Clean Sheets For The Season
Gary Bowyer says he's been pleased with Blackpool's overall defensive displays this season, with three consecutive shut-outs being recorded in the last three matches.
The Seasiders have now kept 15 clean sheets in Sky Bet League Two, the third best tally in the division, and the manager hopes for more in the final two games of the campaign.
"In a third of our games we've kept clean sheets, which is impressive. We've got to try and do that for two more games now," Bowyer said.
"The two centre-halves especially, Clark (Robertson) and Tom (Aldred), have been terrific. Obviously there's been games where they've made mistakes but that's part and parcel of it.
"When we have gone to a three, Will (Aimson) has slotted in impressively well and you look at his performance the other week at Doncaster and he gets us the penalty in the last minute. Whoever we've played at the back has always delivered and we've been pleased with that."
Solid form at the back has helped Blackpool amass a positive goal difference of 22 and although impressed with that, Bowyer hopes his side don't necessarily have to rely on it to fulfill their play-off ambitions.
"Goal difference is always important, it reflects how your season's been. Hopefully we don't have to rely on it but with our goal difference being as good as it is, it puts us in good stead if needed," he added.
