Manager On Accrington Stalemate
Gary Bowyer had plenty to look back on from an incident packed game against Accrington Stanley, but rued Blackpool's missed opportunity from the penalty spot.
The Seasiders were left to settle for a point against their Lancashire neighbours after Kyle Vassell was denied from 12-yards and Kelvin Mellor hit the post in the 95th minute.
Speaking post-match, here's what the manager had to say...
Incident packed game.
I thought it was a good local derby, I thought we started the game ever so well in terms of our possession and the way that we played. We just lacked a little care in the final third. The big opportunity in the first half was a great counter from us and Bright's got to be putting it in the back of the net, to be honest.
I don't think either goalkeeper was overworked and it was probably a game of appeals and decisions, rather than actual goalmouth action and shots and crosses going into the box and goalkeepers making saves.
Missed opportunity from the spot.
I think it was the correct decision - it was a high foot on Jack Payne - but you've got to take the penalty.
You just can't recreate that pressure. You see them on the training pitch practising all day long but in the heat of the battle is when it matters.
I thought we had a great claim for hand ball with the one on Hughes and I thought there was a pull on Kelvin Mellor, but we didn't get those ones. Accrington had a couple of appeals as well, but I think the one with Sam Slocombe was a good decision because Sam took the ball.
Hitting the post at the death.
We finish the game strongly and hit the post with a header, and that's the fine margins at the moment for us. It was a great ball in from Jordan and an even better connection but unfortunately it's just hit the wrong side of the post for us.
