Lancashire Clash On Good Friday
Fixture | Blackpool vs Accrington Stanley
Date | 14 April 2017
Venue | Bloomfield Road
At the crunch point of the season, Blackpool know a positive points return over the Easter period will massively strengthen their bid to finish in the top seven come May.
The first of two massive fixtures for The Seasiders poses a big test, with Lancashire neighbours Accrington Stanley travelling to Bloomfield Road with a 13-match unbeaten run to their name.
Gary Bowyer’s men have lost back-to-back matches, but know victory on Friday could see them rise to sixth, should other results go their way.
Stanley are harbouring hopes of a top seven finish themselves and have risen from 22nd on Boxing Day, to within four points of the play-offs heading into Easter.
Pool lost consecutive matches for the first time this season to begin April, with Luton Town and Grimsby Town getting the better of them. They’ve recently beaten Morecambe, Stevenage and Hartlepool United all on home soil, however.
Accrington’s current confidence was typified last week, when they came from behind to beat Crewe Alexandra 3-2. Prior to that victory they’d taken maximum points from Cambridge Untied and Plymouth Argyle to continue their strong form.
Jim McAlister is the only man missing for The Seasiders with a long-term injury. Armand Gnanduillet is back in contention.
Scott Brown returns from suspension after missing Stanley’s last five matches through suspension. Sean Clare and Aaron Davies are expected to miss out with foot injuries.
