The inaugural Ballon d'Or award, won by Blackpool's Sir Stanley Matthews in 1956, paid a special visit to Bloomfield Road today.
Sir Stanley's daughter, Jean Gough, kindly brought along the prestigious award for manager Gary Bowyer and the first-team squad to see first-hand, while also being at the stadium to reminisce about her father for a special BBC documentary.
Known as the wizard of dribble, Sir Stanley Matthews signed for Blackpool from Stoke City in 1947 and went on to make 440 appearances for the club in a 14-year stay.
He won the FA Cup as a Blackpool player in 1953 and then became the first ever Ballon d'Or winner three years later, pipping Real Madrid great Alfredo Di Stefano to the prize.
