Fixture | Doncaster Rovers vs Blackpool - Date | 19 August 2017 - Venue | Keepmoat Stadium
With three points safely in the bag from last weekend, Blackpool’s next aim is to get up and running on the road, and at a stadium they’ve enjoyed visiting in recent seasons.
Gary Bowyer’s men beat MK Dons on their way to a first victory of the season last Saturday and now cross the Pennines to take on a Doncaster Rovers side promoted alongside them in May.
The Seasiders recorded a huge victory at the Keepmoat Stadium in April, on their way to League Two promotion, and a win on Saturday will see confidence grow further in the camp.
Doncaster themselves won on the road last weekend so go into the game in high spirits, but Pool will focus on themselves and look to build on the clean sheet, three points and strong performance against The Dons.
Sean Longstaff fired the winner for The Seasiders last weekend, as Pool beat MK Dons 1-0. That was a welcome boost after two good performances, but defeats to Bradford City and Wigan Athletic.
Doncaster caught the eye last Saturday with a 3-1 victory at Blackburn Rovers, where John Marquis, James Coppinger and Alfie May netted. Previously they’d drawn 0-0 with Gillingham and beaten Bradford City in the Carabao Cup.
Kelvin Mellor comes back into contention for The Seasiders, after missing the start of the season with a hamstring injury. Callum Cooke and Kyle Vassell will be monitored after missing last week’s win, while Jim McAlister stepped up his rehabilitation from a broken leg this week.
Doncaster have a fully-fit squad to select from, meaning Darren Ferguson’s main decision is if to partner Marquis with May or Liam Mandeville.
